Saturday 4th August
We were woken from our Saturday sleep-in with a knock at the door, our reno is still in progress and the carpenter had arrived to put handles on the cupboards and a exhaust fan above the stove. This was good news; slowly our list is being ticked off. We have had three fridges in the week and the two that stopped working have been moved to our front porch …or it could be the back porch. A washing machine was installed on the porch a few days ago, handy as it saves taking the washing out, however the clothesline is in front of the ‘other’ porch so we can never be sure which is our front door. We carry the clothes through the house to hang on the line.
By 10.00am we had been shopping and were walking to the river carrying our washing basket full of food and utensils needed for our “Brunch by the River”.
We met up with some new friends, people working for a few days or a week in Rob River and then moving to the next town. We lit a fire and cooked bacon, eggs and toast alongside the Billy. The idyllic setting, another blue sky with hawks circling high into the sky on a thermal and the cool water of the river relaxed us all. We talked about what we would have been doing had we all been back in our real homes…Melbourne, Orange NSW, Tasmania, Darwin and Poland! We all agreed it couldn’t have been better than sharing brunch by Robinson River.
